When wandering around the streets of Japan, I often see all kinds of English phrases. However, most of these phrases are simply direct translations and often end up as a jumble of words which ignore the English perspective. This means that the true meaning of what the Japanese person was trying to say gets “lost in translation” and, on occasion, tiny mistakes lead to huge misunderstandings.
